Description
At the Interior Design Program’s 50th Anniversary, alumni Gary Hutton and Larry Peifer, current chair Amy Campos, and former chair Katherine Lambert, reflect forward with Faculty Emeritus Hank Dunlop. Hank taught at the college for many years, after working at Gensler as the firm’s first interiors hire. He had an immense impact on the interior design field at large and on design education at CCA. The group share stories about their time learning and teaching at the college, discuss the rapidly changing field of interior design, and posit possibilities for the future of the field, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the ways that we work and live now. Hank also shares his thoughts on supporting the next generation of designers. To this end, and to mark this milestone anniversary, the college has established the Hank Dunlop Endowed Scholarship for Interior Design in his honor. Hank Dunlop, former chair of the Interior Design Program, taught at CCA from 1978 to 2009, when he was awarded Professor Emeritus status. Gary Hutton (BFA Environmental Studies 1975) is the owner of the interior and furniture design firm Gary Hutton Design. Larry Peifer (BFA Interior Design 2012) is a Senior Designer at HLW. Amy Campos is an Associate Professor and chair of the Interior Design Program at CCA. Katherine Lambert is a Professor and former chair of the Interior Design Program at CCA.
